Travelling to Mugello passing the Gotthard was mostly uneventful, except for the navigation system sending Bruno and Marco due to a traffic jam detour on an extra tour. After searching the hotel at night for a bit, the team arrived safely at the extraordinary lodging facilities.
The exciting race track of Mugello presented in great shape as always, conditions changing from dry to moist and lots of rain on Saturday, the day of the race. The temperatures were way below and the humidity was too high compared to the seasonal average for Italy. Catering, organized by Porsche, was excellent and left nothing to be desired.
The first race proved to be difficult regarding the choice of tires: Everyone started the race on rain tires - which proved to be unfortunate decision, because the race track dried quickly and the cars became incredible difficult to handle. At least everyone had the same, unfavorable conditions.
The poker game of picking the right tires continued in the second sprint: three of our drivers decided to use slicks - the wrong decision as it appeared when entering the race track. R. Feller, X. Penalba and R. Steffen e decided, after consulting with us, to change tires and hence start from the pit lane. Due to sensational aggressiveness on the track - e.g. R. Feller overtook 9 cars in the first round alone - our drivers were soon leading class 4s. Too bad the race management decided to punish the changing of the tires by a penalty minute - which in turn pushed P. Delafontaine forward to rank 1!
Our lodging in a building of the 14th century really amazed us, so we kept talking about it - which of course made everyone really curious. So everybody joined us there on the last evening and enjoyed a culinary highlight in front of the fireplace - a great, entertaining evening for all present.

News have been a little scarce lately, we apologize and try to imrpove :-).
We had a fantastic start into the new season with numerous interesting innovations and changes - on and off the race track.
From the very beginning, Franco Piergiovanni felt much at ease in his new 997 Cup and is constantly improving his performance.
Ives Marioni changed from Drivers Challenge to Class 4.
Pascal Delafontaine is now driving his new GT3 RS.
Philippe Morf was pleased to pick up his beautiful new GT3 Cup (model 2011) at the Porsche facility. He is driving it since Le Castellet.
In his first race in Class 4s, Reto Steffen was able to drive his brand new GT3 RS to a well deserved victory! Congratulations.
Our dear Richard Feller , not driving his own car in the current season, does really well as a guest driver in various classes for the long runs or amuses himself driving a Cayman in Class 1B. We wish Richard all the best and a lot of success for his stint at the 24 hours of Spa Francorchamps.
To all our pilots and friends: We hope you'll have a great summer break and we look forward to see you all again in Dijon, the 18th of august, relaxed and highly motivated!
The "Usrollete" 2010 was great and we'd like to thank Heinz Egli and his assistants for the successful event in the beautiful Jungfrau Victoria in Interlaken.
For the first time in the history of the Porsche-Cup not only the drievrs and clubs have been ranked but as well the team-effort: Widberg Motorsport ranks first in this new rating!
We'd like to thank and congratulate all drivers for their extraordinary achievements. Well done!

Back in Imola for the first time since 1996!
The gentle news reader may have realized that we have dodged the Dijon news completely: the time in between the two events was just too short :).
Imola was great for all of us: weather, circuit, company and ambiance.. a big thanks to the great organizing committee!
Both races (sprint and long distance) on the very interesting circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari really demanded a great deal of the pilots, especially in pouring rain during the second race.
Here are the very good results:
1. (sprint): F. Piergiovanni (5a)
2. (sprint): S Torrocca (4S)
3. (long dist.): F. Piergiovanni (5a)
4. (long dist-): P. Morf/B. Widmer (5a)
Another highlight was the "cross-border" barbecue on saturday - we catered for an amazing 37 (!) people. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the BBQ and stayed until late in the evening!
Bravo and thanks to all pilots, helpers and guests!
Vivememnt Magny-Cours....

The third race in Le Castellet is already in the past again. After some issues in the beginning (of those we don't want to talk about :-), we had a great, successful weekend. Fantastic weather, lots of competitors and very interesting races were reason enough to be in good spirits all the time. Not even the draw of the Swiss National Football Team against Honduras was able to change that.
Inside the team we had some surprises to acknowledge: Franco Piergiovanni's win of the long distance race, class 5a, which he performed all by himself!!! Equally great were the two first places (sprint and long distance) of Aldo Piffaretti and the brilliant catch up of Richard Feller in the long distance race, ending up in the very much earned 3rd place.
Congrats and thanks to all the pilots and the whole team!
Vivement Dijon 19.08.2010....
Your Widberg Motorsport-Team.
This year the event attracted lots of contestants and therefore there was quite some rivalry.
Warm temperatures and beautiful weather accompanied the excellent results of our drivers.
Especially the fact that the Widberg Motorsport-Team was represented in almost all the different classes made us very proud.
In the name of the team we congratulate all the pilots and are looking forward to the next race in Le Castellet, June 25th and 26th.
Have a great time and see you there!
Your Widberg Motorsport-Team.
